The three Versace brothers, Santo, Giovanni (Gianni), and Donatella, grew up in the city of Reggio Calabria, a city in Southern Italy, located very close to Greece.

Donatella’s mother was a seamstress and had a small tailor shop at home.

During the 1970s, Donatella was often cited as an inspiration as well as a reviewer of Gianni’s designs.

The entire Versace family moved to a separate resort, and the show for the Spring-Summer 1999 collection was canceled.

Perhaps today, Donatella knows more about Versace’s work and designs than anyone else.

Model Rosie-Huntington Whiteley is also an avid follower of the Italian brand.
