`The President just emphasized what we have stated, which is how seriously we take the threat of nuclear weapons. We have not seen any reason to adjust nuclear policy

On the same day, the Pentagon also issued a statement affirming that the US `has not seen any reason to adjust its strategic nuclear status, nor has it seen any signs that Russia is preparing to use it.`

The above statements were made after US President Joe Biden warned that the world is facing a risk of `nuclear apocalypse` at an unprecedented level since the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

President Biden said he understands Russian President Vladimir Putin quite well and believes that the Russian leader `wasn’t joking` when he warned that he was ready to deploy nuclear weapons on the battlefield in Ukraine.

Previously, in a speech on September 21, President Putin implied that he could use nuclear weapons if `Russia’s territorial integrity is threatened`.

Since the start of the military campaign in the neighboring country on February 24, Russian officials have repeatedly mentioned the country’s nuclear doctrine, which clearly states the conditions that allow Moscow to have the right to use force.

Russia’s current nuclear doctrine allows for the use of nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear attack on the country’s territory or infrastructure or if the existence of the Russian state is threatened

Russian Security Council Vice Chairman Dmitry Medvedev warned that any weapon in Moscow’s arsenal, including strategic nuclear weapons, could be used to defend territories annexed to Russia

Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of the Russian Chechen Republic, recently said that Russia should consider using `small nuclear weapons` on the battlefield in Ukraine.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace also commented that Russia will not use tactical nuclear weapons in the Ukraine conflict.
